Spirulina Green Smoothie

A very green start to 2018!

One of my main goals this year is to feed my body with foods that are packed with nutritional value, enhance my skin, nails, hair & health.

I want to have a year of positivity & I am a true believer that your diet & exercise play a huge part in creating a happy mind & heart.

Last year my sleep pattern was all over the place & therefore little Ella was pretty tired & stressed.

But 2018 is the time to put all that right & I am so ready to show you how I’m going to declutter my life & introduce foods that will only give me positive health vibes.

I woke up today determined to share a recipe that is just that & I conjured up this spirulina green smoothie.

Spirulina is a great source of protein, a source of vitamins A, B12, iron, magnesium. It is also a good source of antioxidants & can have a much higher % of beta-carotene than other vegetables like carrots, but it is important to use only a small amount of spirulina a day. Like anything excessive amounts can be harmful for your body. I want to spread this approach a lot throughout 2018. That everything is fine for you but in moderation. Even the foods that have lots of health benefits can cause issues if eaten excessively.

Balance in life is so important!

I’ve also included lots of spinach in this recipe because green leafy veggies can have a destress effect & that is exactly what little me needs to get more sleep & generally be a happier Ella. Green leafy veggies are also a great source of iron & dietary fibre. I honestly don’t understand people that tell me they don’t like vegetables. There are so many different kinds of veg out there.

A 2018 Ella tip for you – eat your veg!

Finally, I love who I am & I want to shine from the inside out!

What you’ll need:

1/2 tsp of spirulina (I bought my spirulina powder in Aldi)

1 tsp of maca powder (bought in Aldi also)

1 large frozen banana

1 large handful of raw spinach

1 TBSP of almond butter ( or whatever raw butter you like)

1 tsp of raw organic honey

250 ml of almond milk

Place all of the ingredients into a blender (I used the Ninja) & blend until smooth & creamy.

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope 2018 brings you all so much laughter, health, happiness & love!

Ella xxx
