Before Italy was told to go into lock-down I was lucky enough to have had one of our nicest trips yet.
Who knew that this trip to Italy would inspire me again. It has lit a spark of creativity I have somehow lost over the last year or two. Italy was simply
magical especially the city of Venice.
Since I was a small child I talked about visiting Venice. The first time I went to Italy was 3 years ago to visit Carlos during his semester abroad at university. I went in the cold & foggy October of 2016 for my birthday & we spent nearly a week together in the smaller, less touristic city of Ferrara. This is where he was studying for 4 months. Carlos has always talked about his time in Ferrara & how he would love to visit again. So, when Ryanair released super cheap flights we couldn’t resist.
We flew to Bologna, a larger and slightly more touristic student city near Ferrara. They call Bologna the red city & whilst we drove through
it by bus to get to the central train station to take a train to Ferrara you really can see why. The city is made up of red & orange
buildings. It is rustic, beautiful & full of young life.
Ferrara, is smaller & more charmful. It felt older to me & full of character. The centre is so small you can walk around it in less than a couple
of hours. There is more cafe’s & restaurants than shops & the food is authentic & full of local pride. It was here that I ate my favourite
dish of our trip, “cappellacci di zucca alla ferrarese”.
Ferrara is where we based ourselves for the majority of the trip. Although, on the Friday of our trip we made our way to Venice.
Venice was exactly how the movies picture it. It completely lived up to all my expectations if not more. I fell in love with the city even if we
were only there for less than 6 hours.
A city of made up of canals, narrow streets, & picture perfect views. It has been a while since a city has left such an impact on me. Venice, although packed with tourists, is the reason this post is up. Those picture perfect views have ignited my love for photography & creating.
Travelling is one of life’s greatest gifts.
Lots of love,
